About Me

Ivel, Kentucky, United States
Doyle Branham (Born in 1950) The son of a coal miner, grew up in the mining town of Weeksbury, Kentucky during the 1950's to 1980's and watched the death of mining in the area. In the early 1990's he moved to Central Kentucky with his wife Karen, where jobs were readily available. After a serious accident in 2006 Mr. Branham begin writing stories to pass the time. Some of the stories he started years ago, but put aside and almost forgot about, as his job consumed most of his time. Now Living in Ivel, Kentucky Doyle spends most of his days writing. "I never thought so many stories could come out of my mind. It's like writing down what I see on T.V.," said Doyle.

THE BLACKGOLD WAR, Explosive Times in a Coal Camp

Joe and Bill Ramsey are Chosen to lead the newly chartered Weeksbury local of the United Mine Workers of America. With their positions of President and Vice-President they are expected to bring changes to the slave like treatment forced upon the poor miners by the powerful coal company.
Joe and Bill quickly shut down the mines of the Kopper's Coal Compamy and at once the wicked raft of the coal company is brought to the door step of every frightened miner.
Not relenting as danger and death met them at every turn, they fought hard to keep the miners together and rallied behind the U.M.W.A. banner. Somestimes the fight required foul name calling, sometimes rocks and sometimes deadly weapons, but in the end all would seam to be meaningless.
